"LUCK"

As I started to put my key in the lock of my car, I realized that something was wrong. A feeling of disbelief came over me when I realized that my lock had been tampered with and yes, there were things missing from my car. Which things? How many things? Were they important..expensive...replaceable...traceable? My mind raced like a machine.  I was on automatic; it was pouring down rain and I couldn’t believe that somebody would do this to me!!  I’m sure that everyone has experienced this in some form. One week later I still can’t get over the feeling of outrage, violation, and the circumstances that led to the vulnerability of the moment seem like so much bad LUCK.

Why me? I don’t need this problem to deal with. Most of the things that were taken are worthless to anyone but me. If these thieves made $50 out of this, they would be LUCKY! Because they certainly were not smart. I was also LUCKY because they could have taken everything including the whole car!! However Radio Shack, Sing Young Karaoke and Kinkos made out like bandits because of this , and because of certain discounts, I considered myself LUCKY under the circumstances. Actually, some of the new purchases are an upgrade! There is a continuing sense of loss and readjustment. Some things are not replaceable and I miss my familiar gear. I would rather spend my time and money on more interesting things than replacements, but who am I to say?

Many new opportunities have come up in this process and for all I know, my whole destiny may be changing for the better just because some drug addict went out with a screw driver and hammer looking for a way to pay for his next fix. My path without this turn might have led me into lethal territory and much greater bad LUCK. My friend, the thief, could actually be my savior! What a concept! The point is, we don’t know. Our perspective on the events of our lives is so limited to what we want, what we see right in front of us. What looks like bad LUCK today may turn out to be good LUCK tomorrow if we are open to it.

Case 1: Girl all broken up with boyfriend problems gets stood up on Valentine’s Day. She goes out with friends to Karaoke Bar and meets her soulmate while singing.
Case 2: Couple meets at Karaoke, marries. Never go out to sing again.
Case 3:Couple meets at Karaoke, marries. They continue to sing , but one becomes serious about singing and moves on leaving the other to sing the blues
LUCKY-UnLUCKY- LUCKY
Case 3: Karaoke Host gets new gig, works there, makes money, loses gig, gets new gig. Happens to be in the right place at the right time. Calls one week too late/early.   Equipment breaks down at audition. Gets a better offer next week.
By now you probably get the point. What’s the answer? My solution is to stay positive, be ready for new opportunities. Nothing remains the same and there is no use feeling sorry for ourselves. Loss is part of life. Look for the posibilities and make your own LUCK!!
